SUMMARY:Earth Rhythms a solo exhibition by Luis Sanchez
DESCRIPTION:Earth Rhythms is a solo exhibition by artist Luis Sanchez\, exploring the interconnected elements of our world—both urban and natural—and the quiet dialogue between them. By blending these environments\, Sanchez invites viewers to reconnect with nature within the interior spaces we inhabit every day. \nAt the heart of his practice is a belief he often shares: “bring the outside in.” His work is intended to transform interiors—homes\, offices\, and public spaces—into environments of calm\, balance\, and reflection. In an increasingly uncertain and fast-paced world\, Sanchez emphasizes the importance of creating spaces that are not only visually compelling\, but restorative—places that function as sanctuaries. His work brings the grounding\, meditative qualities of nature inside\, offering a sense of tranquility that feels both essential and timeless. \nThough his pieces are sometimes mistaken for collage or mixed media\, Sanchez creates his work using only brush and paint. His meticulous detail and fine craftsmanship distinguish his work\, reflecting decades of dedication to his practice. As he often says\, “I breathe art.” \nA professional artist for over thirty-four years\, Sanchez is an internationally recognized creator working across multiple disciplines\, including painting\, sculpture\, ceramics\, metal\, and wood. He is also an accomplished muralist\, contributing extensively to the cultural landscape of Los Angeles and throughout San Pedro. \nAfter relocating from the Downtown LA Arts District to San Pedro in 2015\, Sanchez became deeply involved in the local arts community. In 2016\, he completed the 120-foot mural along the Lillian Fierman Walkway beside the Warner Grand Theatre. Since then\, his public works have expanded to include numerous Department of Transportation art boxes\, the trompe l’oeil mural The Cellar near 8th Street\, and a series of murals for the Guest Harbor Inn as part of its rebranding. His presence in public art continues to grow\, with additional outdoor projects planned for 2026.

SUMMARY:Gallery Three Six One proudly presents\, for its Inaugural Exhibition\, "Analog Intelligence"
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Three Six One proudly presents\, for its inaugural exhibition\, \n“Analog Intelligence” \nArtists: David Winthrop Hanson & Hesh Hipp \nAnalog Intelligence is an exploration of the continuum between film photography and \ngenerative AI. The exhibition features seven large-scale compositions that map a direct \ngenealogy from the physical to the synthetic. \nEach work begins with an original analog photograph captured on film. The image is then \n“viewed” by a Large Language Model (LLM)\, which translates the visual data into a verbatim text \ndescription. Those descriptions were then used as prompts to generate digital derivatives. By \npresenting the film original alongside these AI descendants\, Hanson and Hipp pose questions \nabout the evolution of images and the role of technology in the artistic process. \n\n

SUMMARY:Artist Talks: Mocho Masks 1929
DESCRIPTION:solo is proud to show Moncho’s latest body of work Mask at the gallery. Join us for the artist talk this Sunday\, to hear directly from the artist about his work.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Talk:\nSunday\, March 22\,\nGallery Opens: 3:00 pm\nTalk Starts: 4:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe new series of paintings Moncho created for Masks embodies a spirit of recontextualization\, expanding ideas and building on elements present in his previous paintings\, murals\, and other forms of street art\, compositions he has described as “opposing visual images that can create a new conversation.” \nMasks take on different meanings relative to geography\, context\, and culture. Moncho doesn’t directly reference specific masks or their functions; instead\, he encourages viewers to confront their own judgments as they attempt to classify the subjects in his paintings. \n“I purposely try not to be overtly political in the work that I do. There’s always references\, but I’d rather insinuate\, be subtle\, so that when the person is looking at the work\, they’re having that discovery\, they’re having that conversation. At the end of the day\, the work needs to connect with the viewer.”\n– Moncho \nMoncho’s paintings are not only personal\, but also provocative. Previously the human subjects would often have no face at all\, but his new works feature rendered facial coverings that conceal or transform identity.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegular gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.\nThe gallery will be closed this Saturday\, March 21!

SUMMARY:Language and Light\, a solo exhibition by Khara Cloutier
DESCRIPTION:Language & Light is a solo exhibition by Khara Cloutier that explores the intimacy of language through the sculptural and psychological possibilities of neon. Cloutier’s materials are rooted in the history of advertising and urban nightlife—but her approach is deeply personal. Using hand-lettering techniques\, linguistic wordplay and conceptual layering\, her works beckon viewers to examine not only what the sign says\, but also what it reveals about memory\, self-image and the ways we construct meaning in public and private life. \nKhara Cloutier is an artist and educator who teaches Typography and Imagemaking at CalArts Extended Studies and holds an MFA in Graphic Design from California State University\, Long Beach. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Latin American Art\, Torrance Art Museum and Lili Lakich Neon Studio. Cloutier is continually inspired by the man-made landscapes that surround her—the anatomy of the city—and its power to fabricate narrative and identity.

SUMMARY:Starting Small: A collective Art exhibition\, closing reception
DESCRIPTION:In this new year\, let us appreciate the beauty of beginning. Take small steps and expand your art collection by supporting talented artists. In doing so\, we not only enrich our own lives\, but contribute to the flourishing of our artistic community. As we embark on a new year\, we are presented with the opportunity to sustain and promote personal growth and artistic creativity. The concept of starting small can collectively lead to extraordinary outcomes. Just as individual brushstrokes on a blank canvas gradually form a complete and stunning masterpiece. This group exhibition puts this philosophy into practice. Each artwork and each artist contributes a modest yet significant step toward a broader artistic vision. They ignite inspiration and nurture a lively community of creative individuals.

SUMMARY:solo. gallery Presents: Guillaume Zuili MITTELEUROPA
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception:\nSaturday\, October 18\n5:00 pm – 7:00 pm \nIn the late 19th century\, spirit photography became popular amongst individuals who believed spirits could be caught on camera. These images were created through double-exposure photography and experimentation\, often using uncleaned photographic plates and pre-exposed images to have the appearance of ghostly figures. \nSince then\, double-exposure photography has come a long way\, and what began as a way to capture images of departed friends and relatives is now a form of creative expression. \nTechnically\, an echo is a sound effect where a sound wave bounces off a surface and reflects back to the listener\, creating a delayed\, distinct repetition of the original sound. Used metaphorically\, an echo may variously describe a flashback or an awakening to something past. \nZuili’s Mitteleuropa presents as a visual echo contextualizing the past as present. In painterly parlance atmospheric perspective refers to a gentle softening of background in service to foreground images – visual space as time\, echoes of the past informing the present. Zuili’s images\, technically and conceptually\, present\, as Herbert Marcuse reminds us in Eros and Civilization\, “Time loses its power when remembrance redeems the past.” \n— \nGallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm\, or by appointment. Contact the gallery at info@solosanpedro.com

SUMMARY:6th Annual California Seaweed Festival
DESCRIPTION:Our festival team wants to share the beauty and diversity of seaweeds on our coasts\, how seaweeds enrich coastal environments making seawater cleaner and a better habitat for hundreds of other species. We imagine a California where seaweed is a kitchen staple\, a conversation-starter\, a career field\, and a conservation focus. \nThe California Seaweed Festival engages families\, learners\, entrepreneurs\, activists\, and more in meaningful ways that enact stewardship while electrifying a nascent seaweed industry. We work to bolster the Blue Economy and forge a California populace that is primed for sustainable seaweed use and appreciation. \nThe California Seaweed Festival is a free\, family-friendly event celebrating the seaweed diversity of California! The festival showcases seaweed ecology as well as applications in art\, cooking\, farming\, science\, sustainable technology\, and conservation. The California Seaweed Festival is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. \nThe festival moves to a different coastal location each year\, so\, every festival is unique\, and carefully crafted to showcase how seaweed and ocean ecology intersect and support the coastal communities. \nEvery year\, we reach out to businesses\, educational institutions\, government entities\, indigenous groups\, non-profits\, artists\, food producers and craftspeople in the community to best showcase the complex relationships between California’s seaweeds\, and communities.
